Treatments
VenaSeal™
The VenaSeal™ closure system is the only non-tumescent, non-thermal, non-sclerosant procedure that uses a proprietary medical adhesive delivered endovenously to close the vein. This approach eliminates the risk of thermal nerve injury when treating the small saphenous vein, which is a risk sometimes associated with certain thermal-based procedures. The procedure is safe and effective and is administered without the use of tumescent anesthesia, avoiding patient discomfort associated with multiple needle sticks.
ClosureFast™
The ClosureFast™ procedure is a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to effectively treat patients with varicose veins or chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). Because the valves in the legs cannot be repaired, the only alternative is to re-route the blood flow from the diseased veins to the healthy veins.
Microphlebectomy
Microphlebectomy is a technique used to remove certain varicose veins that are still visible after EVLT. EVLT is extremely effective in removing the high pressure venous blood varicose veins. However, in some patients, the veins will still be visible. Microphlebectomy will completely remove the vein wall so that there is no visible vein remaining.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is the traditional method used to eliminate spider veins and smaller varicose veins. It involves injecting a sclerosant (generally a salt solution) directly into the problem vein. The sclerosant irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to shrink and stick together. Over time, the vessel will be absorbed by the body.
Varicose vein symptoms include enlarged, twisted, rope-like veins that appear near the surface of the skin. While they can develop anywhere in the body, they are most commonly found in the legs and ankles because standing and walking increase pressure in the lower extremities. In normally functioning veins, tiny one-way valves open as blood flows toward the heart and close to prevent blood from flowing backward. When these valves malfunction, blood pools in the veins, resulting in a buildup of pressure that weakens their walls causing them to bulge. The way we treat most patients with varicose veins is with our endovenous laser treatment (EVLT). This state-of-the-art procedure allows us to effectively remove varicose veins without the traditional method of “vein stripping,” and no recovery time required.
